Be well

Branding a mental and physical health initiative

The design brief

An online hub started by a team of one woman, in bloom wellness was born out of her desire to provide mental and physical health education to the local community. She needed branding to officially launch her service, so I was hired to design a logo.

Keeping the full name of her service, incorporating a dandelion or other floral element, and using warm and neutral tones were a few things the client asked me to include in the logo. She also gave me a few words that she felt described her brand: friendly, welcoming, and light.

After initial iterations, I cleaned up three strong directions and pitched these to her.

Concept 2

Concept 3

Revisions and further iterations

The client liked all three logos! They chose Concept 1 and asked for a few revisions:

  • Using an airier typeface for “in bloom”

  • Using a serif typeface for “wellness”

  • Creating a more literal and less animated look for the dandelion

After further iterations, I designed the final version and sent that to the client.

Final thoughts

Unfortunately, the client decided to dissolve her business, so I won’t be able to see the logo in action. However, I’m still grateful that I had the opportunity to design for this brand since I’m very passionate about mental and physical health, and I felt that I learned a lot through this entire process—especially in how to prepare and give presentations as well as all that goes into exporting a huge stack of final files.
